Fragments of A Memory
For my senior year photography project, I explored the theme of memory through a deeply personal lens. I found old, water-damaged photographs from my family—precious images of my, now passed, pawpaw. As well as my mimi and my mom when they were younger. Despite the damage caused by a water leak years ago, my mimi had held onto these photos, even as they deteriorated with stains, mold, and missing pieces. Inspired by the idea of memory as something fragmented and fading over time, I decided to repurpose these images. By submerging them in a photographic chemical solution and scanning them online, I was able to restore and reprint the photos as a gift for my family. This project became a way to preserve and honor the fragments of our past, symbolizing how memories, while often incomplete or faded, still hold immense value and significance. It was an emotional and rewarding process to reconnect with these moments and share them with the people who lived them.
